I got married at 20. Best decision/risk I ever took! I’ve attended a few weddings recently where the bride and groom are still in college so I wonder if this is a trend in the community too. Most of our friends married before 24. Your essay is great advice for this new generation.

Wow. 20 is young. It's so good to hear of positive experiences though, because you see soooooo much negativity in the marriage discussion spaces. Even on rishta whatsapp group profiles, it's so common to see "divorced after x weeks/months."

And I think there is a bit of a trend I'm seeing of people getting married in their early 20's, though at the population level, I don't know what % of marriages are happening in those years. There's a whole lot of people who are into 30s and still looking.

I am 33 years old and wanting to get married but I don’t know a lot about doing it correctly so forth and so on? I am the only Muslim in my family besides my cousin that I’ve just met! May you give me information or advice rather ?

Allah bless you and give you tremendous goodness, contentment, and happiness in this life and the next.

1- Remember that marriage is a part of our rizq (sustenance) and we have very little control over how we attain it. Our job is only to try.

2- Exhaust your means. Speak to your local Imams, tell your friends, attend Muslim gatherings, and try the apps.

3- Remember that marriage is not your purpose in life, only a means to achieve the purpose. Make sure you’re working on yourself (spiritually and personally) in the meantime.

4- Make dua. All the frustration and waiting is an opportunity to turn your heart back to God.

And Allah knows best.

Allahu Alam , Shukran for this advice I truly appreciate your help. I’ve not ever been so content with myself but I’m very much so now with Allah SWT . I took my shahada August 22 so I will continue to work on myself and also try the things you suggested. Alhamdulillah
