This resonated deeply with me and gave me the words to understand what has been on my heart. May Allah grant us all that Love and spiritual intimacy you wrote so beautifully about. Ameen ya Rabb.
I have always wanted to see the prophet pbuh in my dream but have always been afraid of it happening—what if He is displeased with me, or worse, angry?
Yes, I was just thinking as I was typing that, that wouldn't it be a blessing to see the prophet and be subject to his anger, for under that anger, surely there is mercy?
So true, i often think of this myself, after praying- asking Allah to show me Prophet (pbuh) in my dreams, and regretting asking, thinking of my nafs, and this eyes, of sin. What if he dissatisfied with me....those thoughts happens to me all the time.
Jazakallah kheir for this piece. I’m also going through a period of transition, and so much of this resonated with me very deeply. May Allah grant us both that deeper embodiment of our faith and answer our duaa.
May Allah grant you your beautiful wishes this Ramadan! Have you read The Search for Beauty in Islam by Khaled Abou El Fadl? Or any of his series: The Prophet’s Pulpit: Commentaries on the State of Islam? They address the love, longing and beauty you express in this piece. May you find it and much more insha’Allah! Thank you for sharing your writing 🤲🏼😊
I haven’t read much his work, but love is something Muslims scholars have written on since the 3rd/9th century (as an independent subject), if not earlier.
Allah bless all of our scholars and allow us to be loving practitioners. Ameen!
Yes, but few have written about love with convincing authenticity, vibrancy and honesty about the ills of our moment, which can leave the spiritual void you describe. May Allah guide us all to the most beautiful path always! Ramadan Mubarak dear brother 🤲🏼💕
mashallah!! i really felt this deeply, the way you talk about experiencing deen instead of learning about it, being open to taste the light, the mercy and the love. May allah makes us from those who can experience religion instead of only learning about it inchallah!!.
Absolutely! You can find the online continuation of The Prophet’s Pulpit series here on Substack @theprophetspulpit. YaRab!

1- He’s the mercy to all of mankind.
2- Would you rather him telling you in this life (while you have time to shape up) or it be something saved for the next life?
Perfection isn’t the goal, sincerity is.
WallahuAlam!
